  • Launch of the mC-Connect Drawer, a Cash Drawer Control Device

    – The industry’s first to offer four communication methods –

Star Micronics Co., Ltd. will begin selling the mC-Connect Drawer, a device that enables control of cash drawers via wireless LAN, Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth® LE) (*1), USB, or Ethernet communication.

As mPOS (*2) , which is easy to adopt, continues to spread worldwide, advances in technology have accelerated the uptake of cashless payments, and services that can be completed solely with portable payment terminals have emerged in the POS market. Even amid these new trends, cash payments continue to meet certain consumer needs, and the usage environments for cash drawers are diversifying. However, many cash drawers still rely on dedicated wired connections, making it difficult to flexibly choose communication methods to suit store environments and POS systems.

The mC-Connect Drawer is the first in the industry (*3) to feature four interfaces—wireless LAN, Bluetooth LE, USB, and Ethernet—allowing cash drawers to connect to various POS systems, such as tablets and portable payment terminals, using the communication method best suited to each application. It supports a wide range of device configurations and use cases, contributing to greater flexibility in store layouts.

    Start of sales

From June 2026, sales will begin sequentially both in Japan and overseas.

    Main features

Supports four interfaces in a single device

Choose the communication method from four interfaces—wireless LAN, Bluetooth LE, USB, and Ethernet— to connect with POS terminals and suit diverse store environments and use cases. There is no longer any need to purchase additional cash drawers for each desired interface, significantly reducing costs.

    Compatible with conventional cash drawers

It works with conventional cash drawers that use standard RJ-12 modular cables. It also maintains compatibility with our existing software offerings.

    Connect two cash drawers simultaneously

With two cash drawer ports, you can connect two cash drawers simultaneously. Users can independently trigger open operations and obtain open/close status for each cash drawer connected to an mC-Connect Drawer, enhancing flexibility in store operations.

Design that blends into any store layout, with excellent installability

Its compact design enables space-saving, highly flexible installation, and its stylish look complements a wide range of store layouts. Built-in magnets allow direct mounting to cash drawers for clean, secure attachment.

    Easy setup

By using the Star Quick Setup Utility™ configuration app for iOS (*4) and Android™ (*5) and following the on-screen instructions on a mobile device, anyone can easily complete wireless LAN setup in-store.
