Release of New mC-Print®3, the Industry Standard mPOS Thermal Printer
Star Micronics Co., Ltd. will release two new models, “MCP31CI” and “MCP31CBI”, the latest models of the mC-Print3 series.
Since its launch in 2018 as part of the mCollection®, a peripheral device brand optimized for mPOS (*1), the mC-Print3 series has been adopted by numerous businesses for its convenience, capable of serving not only as a receipt printer but also a kitchen order slip printer.
The new models inherit the design and reliability that have been well-received and keep compatibility with existing models (*2), while also being improved to align with the latest technology trends in the world.
In addition, we have bolstered the product’s environmental friendliness by supporting non-chemical eco-friendly paper and eliminating plastic materials from the packaging.
As a company boasting a high market share in mPOS printers, introducing these new products strengthens our lineup of related products in the mPOS and mobile order market, aiming to expand our market share further.

Main Features
Next-generation USB-C® (*3) Interface Equipped
The mC-Print3 series has traditionally been a standard-equipped multi-interface with USB, Ethernet, and Bluetooth® (*4) designed to be useful for various applications.
For the USB interface, we have been early adopters of new technologies like Lightning USB communication technology for iOS (*5) devices and USB-C® Power Delivery technology for Android™ (*6) devices. However, specific combinations were required for usage.
Recently, host devices (such as tablets) and cables that comply with the USB-C standard have become more popular. In response to this trend, the new models simultaneously achieve communication and power supply through a single USB-C port, regardless of the host device selected.
Improved Print Speed
We are achieving a maximum printing speed of 400mm/second, approximately 1.5 times faster than the existing model’s 250 mm/second.
This reduces ticket issuing time at the checkout or in the kitchen, contributing to more efficient store operation.
Support for a New Cloud Printing Communication Protocol
The mC-Print3 series supports the “CloudPRNT®,” a communication protocol for direct printing from a cloud server to the printer.
Although the previous model only supported server polling via the HTTP protocol, the new model uses the MQTT protocol and HTTP protocol, enabling faster printer control from the cloud server (*7).
Aiming for Eco-Friendly Products
The new models are developed with environmental considerations, and they are committed to the following:
– Eliminating plastic materials from packaging
– Reducing the size of the package by approximately 20% compared to existing models, improving loading efficiency for transportation
– Assuring the print quality of non-chemical, eco-friendly paper
– Removing less-used accessories from the standard package
