New Release of 2 Portable Thermal Printer Models for the Japanese Market
Standard Support of Magnetic Stripe Reading Functions
– Ideal for Remote Receipt Requirements and Delivery Service –
Star will release two thermal portable printers, the “SM-S200” and “SM-T300”, for the Japanese Market in February 2011. The new “SM-S200”, a 2 inch super small and light weight model, and the “SM-T300”, a 3 inch highly durable splash proof model, enable Star to provide the solution to many different application requirements for different printer sizes.
Since these models were released in the US market in May 2010, Star has received many inquiries for On Demand Payment Systems such as fast food delivery service in which customers can pay at their own front doors, line-busting solutions at supermarkets allowing patrons to checkout as quickly as possible and restaurant “table-side” payment resulting in faster transaction processing and increased customer security. These requirements for mobile printers are on the rise in Japan, along with the necessity of printing receipts and invoices for product delivery services. Star’s new lineup of portable printers will be the perfect solution for all of these demanding applications.
Each of these models boasts standard support of a magnetic stripe reader for credit card reading functions and enables customers to easily set up low cost payment systems by using popular PDA (Personal Digital Assistants) or smart phone technology. Customers can easily check the remaining battery life, communication status and error messages at a glance on the LCD display on operation panel.
These models ship with all accessories needed for set up: Battery Pack, Battery Charger, Serial Cable, and Sample Paper Roll. The SM-T300 also includes a handy belt clip. In addition, Star’s Portable Printers are designed and ready for simple software integration. Each model supports “StarIO”, a dedicated Application Programming Interface provided by Star that allows system designers to dramatically reduce the amount of human resources needed for developing software in all major operating environments including: Windows Mobile, Windows CE, iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod) and Android.
Star is also planning to release these portable printers in Europe in the near future to expand sales worldwide.
