New Release of a Portable Thermal Printer, the “SM-S220” for the Japanese Market
Selected by NTT DATA for a new cloud based payment processing service
Star Micronics has developed a new thermal portable printer, the SM-S220. The SM-S220 is the officially selected printer for PastelPort Plus™, a new cloud service for smart phones and tablet terminals that NTT DATA CORPORATION will begin providing on a trial basis as of April 2012.
PastelPort Plus™ is a service that provides payment processing with smart phones or tablet terminals at virtually any location – even where POS terminals are not traditionally installed like in an event hall. The SM-S220 is ideal for this service and completely meets its requirements including credit card processing and receipt printing capabilities.
The SM-S220 printer is equipped with a magnetic stripe reader and enables store owners of any size to accept credit card payments and issue receipts with just one device. Users can easily check the remaining battery life, communication status and error messages at a glance on the operation panel’s LCD display. The printer ships with all accessories needed for set up: Battery Pack, Battery Charger, Belt Clip and Sample Paper Roll.
Star will exhibit the SM-S220 and PastelPort Plus™ application at RETAILTECH JAPAN, Japan’s largest retail technology trade show. RETAILTECH JAPAN will be held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center from March 6 to March 9, 2012.
