Device
The “Device” page of the dashboard displays the list of devices controlled by StarIO.Online.
Device information, such as device names, status, and the number of jobs currently stored in the queue, is displayed.
Device information is regularly updated, ensuring that the status is reflected in near real time.
Memo
The device list can be sorted by clicking a column title (except the paper column).
If multiple device groups are held, clicking the filter button allows only a certain device group to be displayed. Also, other filtering such as connection times and polling intervals is available.
Device details
Some convenient control menu items and test options can be used by clicking the [...] button of each device.
Change of device name
This changes the name of the device. The name is stored in the device. A CloudPRNT-compatible device will output it on the self-printing sheet.
* Assigning useful identification names to all devices is recommended.
Note:
A device name is stored in the device itself. Therefore, a device name can be changed only when the power of the device is currently ON and it is connected to the service.
Copy serial number
This copies the serial number of the device to the clipboard.
Synchronize paper size data with device
If a printer has a different paper width set, reacquiring the paper data from the printer is requested to the server.
Paper width information is required for accurate scaling and English word wrapping during printing data generation.
Reprint Welcome page
This requests the reprinting of the Welcome page, which is automatically printed when a new device is connected to the service.
Upload file
This allows any file to be uploaded from a Web browser to the service and to be sent to a device.
Any printable document file in a service-supporting format, such as HTML, Star Document Markup, PNG, JPEG, and Plain Text, can be uploaded.
A file including the contents of Star Configuration Format can be also uploaded as a file name of “star-config.json”.
Clear print queue
This clears all jobs currently stored in the print queue.
Any print jobs remaining in the queue can be cleared from a printer which had been offline for a while.
Copy access identifier
This copies the access identifier of the device to the clipboard.
An access identifier is used for the application API to identify a certain device in a device group.
Generate new access identifier
This generates a new access identifier randomly assigned to the device.
This is useful when an application sending an unnecessary job to the device must be stopped. This is useful particularly when e-mail printing is effective.
Copy device group path
This copies the device group path to the clipboard.
A device group path is used for the application API to identify a device group.
Copy e-mail address
This copies an e-mail address for e-mail printing to the clipboard.
Sending print data to the e-mail address allows the device to perform e-mail printing.
Update memo
This updates the contents of the memo.
Configure meta-information
This configures meta-information (custom type) into the device.
Filtering by the set custom type from the device list becomes available. Configuring an original custom type such as country information and an installation location allows the search function to be more convenient.
Delete
This deletes the device from the device group. However, it is shown in the list until the current subscription period is finished.
In addition, if the device is still connected to the service and the option “Auto-create new device queue” is effective in the device group, the device will be added to the group again when the device communicates with the service.
Note:
Before deleting a device, deactivate the CloudPRNT function of the device in order to prevent reconnection.
