Daily Maintenance

To enable comfortable and safe use, conduct maintenance periodically. Before conducting maintenance, take note of the information in Safety Information - Maintenance.

Maintenance period: Every six months or every 40 rolls (2 km, 500,000 lines) of printing

The period above is provided as a guide. If there is residual glue of label paper or dust, troubles such as paper feeding failure and poor printing quality become more prone to occur. It is recommended to conduct maintenance daily regardless of the suggested period.

Exterior maintenance

1. Turn power off

  • Turn the power off, and pull the power plug from the electrical outlet.

  • Wipe off the dirt on the plastic section using a soft, dry and clean cloth.
  • In particular, immediately remove any sticky debris and dust occurring from the label paper glue. Not doing so can lead to paper jams.
  • If it is very dirty, soak a soft cloth in water containing a very small amount of neutral detergent, completely wring out the cloth and gently wipe off the dirt. Wipe off any moisture using a soft, dry cloth.

Caution

  • Do not use neutral detergent without diluting it. Otherwise, it will cause plastic parts to change color or deteriorate.

Interior maintenance

1. Turn power off

  • Turn the power off, and pull the power plug from the electrical outlet.

2. Open printer cover

  • Push the opening lever to open the printer cover .

Thermal head
  • Dampen a cotton swab (or soft cloth) with alcohol solvent (ethanol, isopropyl alcohol), and wipe the thermal area of the head.
  • Remove the glue and paper powder from the surface of the thermal head.

Caution

  • The thermal head is a part that can easily be damaged. Exercise caution when cleaning the head so it does not get any scratches.
  • Do not clean the thermal head immediately after printing while the thermal head is hot.
  • There is risk that static electricity can damage the head after the thermal head is cleaned, so be careful about static electricity.
  • Turn the power on only after the alcohol has completely dried.
Rubber roller
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off the dirt from the rubber roller.
  • Rotate the rubber roller while cleaning to make sure that the whole roller is cleaned.
Paper roll storage space
  • Remove any label paper glue, debris, dust and paper powder with a dry, soft cloth.
  • In particular, immediately remove any sticky debris and dust occurring from the label paper glue. Not doing so can lead to paper jams.

Caution

  • Avoid using air when removing debris, dust and paper powder from the vicinity of the paper roll storage space.
When air is used, the debris, dust and paper powder may be blown into the interior of the printer, causing malfunction and such.
